Our training is designed to prepare the federal workforce—military, civilian, and contractor personnel—with the knowledge, skills, and certifications mandated for mission-critical cybersecurity roles.
At UpSkill Academy, we deliver modern, scalable training solutions tailored to the cybersecurity, cloud, AI, and technology needs of government agencies. Our programs prepare federal personnel to counter both insider and external threats while adapting to rapidly evolving technologies.
Training Essentials for Every Job Role
Pathway to Compliance & Workforce Readiness
Whether serving transitioning service members, active-duty personnel, or the civilian federal workforce, Upskill Academy ensures every graduate is prepared to meet the technical competencies outlined in federal cybersecurity workforce frameworks. Our training pathways are outcome-driven and standards-compliant, enabling graduates to immediately support agency missions.
The Department of Defense (DoD) 8140 program, which supersedes the previous DoD 8570 directive, is a comprehensive framework for managing the cyber workforce. It focuses on a role-based approach to ensure that personnel have the necessary skills and qualifications to perform their job functions. The program applies to a wide range of individuals, including military service members, DoD civilian employees, and contractors.
The DoD 8140 framework is extensive, defining over 70 work roles across several workforce elements. Instead of a simple, one-to-one mapping, the program uses a more flexible system where various certifications, training, and experience can satisfy the qualification requirements for a particular role. The qualification requirements are broken down into three main categories:
Foundational Qualification: This is the baseline requirement for a work role and can be met through approved certifications, training, or in some cases, experience.
Residential Qualification: This builds upon the foundational qualification and requires personnel to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in a mission-specific environment.
Annual Maintenance: This requires a minimum of 20 hours of continuous professional development (CPD) annually to maintain qualifications.
